The one important factor in life I learned so very late in my own life is this:

If you were raised to believe you were a "flawed" human being who was unloveable and would never amount to anything -- YOU DON'T HAVE TO BELIEVE IT. Just because those brainwashing you to believe those lies were your own flesh and blood does NOT make it a truth. More often than not it is THEY who have the problem -- not the child who is their victim.

Another truism is that children raised by people like that have a natural tendency to gravitate toward people like their abusive family throughout their lifetime because that is all they know and those kind of relationships are "comfortable." BE AWARE OF THAT and remember -- judge people by how THEY make you feel about you -- if you feel good about yourself with them, it will be natural for you to care for them and be good to them in return.

Long term abuse is so damaging you will probably never totally heal from the pain of what you've gone through; however, wisely CHOOSING who you will spend your time with will ensure you don't fall back into the abusive cycle.

Hang around people who are good to you -- you'll be healthier and happier and more able and willing to give love back in a healthy way.

PEACE AND HAPPINESS TO ALL.
