Boddie-O'Neal, Rolanda (1997)

Byers, J.D. Broadcast Journalism
J.D. is Shoals Bureau Chief for WAFF-48, the NBC affiliate in Huntsville, AL. We see him on TV just about every evening, and he's doing a great job! JD is married and lives in the Shoals.

Kenda is now working at the Lexington Herald-Leader in Lexington, KY. He also has his own graphic design firm, Horseplay Design. He also served as the Chairman of the Radio and Television Broadcasting Department at Fugazzi College in Lexington. Caroll, Helen (Howard) . Journalism/Theatre, 1979.
Caroll checked out our web site and wanted you all to know that there are lots of UNA grads out there who are doing very well in the business. She is Executive Producer of the Primary Channel on Planet Think. She works for EMC Networks in Scottsdale, AZ. The company does interaction educational series for 4500 classrooms nationwide. She manages a team which produces and designs 10 series of kids programs from math to phonics to social studies. She also spent 20 years managing newsrooms in TV stations. She is married with two children, a 6 year old daughter and a 1 year old son. Caroll wrote that she was glad be a part of this page and she hopes other alumni will as well. Paul is a sportswriter for the Times Daily in Florence. I saw him in the parking lot at Food World before Christmas, and he looks great. He likes his job and he'd love to hear from you.

Haverstick, Paul (Graduated : 1996)
Paul stationed at Ft. Stewart close to Savanna, Ga., and he's the executive officer in charge of aCharlie Battery, 1-3 ADA. He's married to Elana and they are expecting their first child in January. He has another year in the military and then will have to decide where he needs to be. Paul said he misses the study sessions-especially at Christmas. I hope he knows the caramel corn recipe he likes so much is on the web site. Update: Paul and Elana's baby boy was born on December 24. Mom and baby (and Dad) are all doing just fine. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (and tax deduction!). Congratulations. Paul sent an e-mailed photo. What a beautiful baby! You all know how I feel about babies! Hornbuckle, Jeff. (Graduated 1993) Radio-Television.
After working for several years as a media specialist for a major hotel chain, Jeff and his family wanted to be closer to "home." He now has his own contracting business, Hornbuckle Services, specializing in home repair and installation. They have two children.

Hughes, Hal (Graduate 1998-RTF) Hal is now doing graduate work at the University of Alabama and says current students should NOT complain about the reading in MY courses! I don't yet have his email address.

Jennifer Steen Inglewright (Graduated, 1997)
Jennifer has been hired as an Anchor/Reporter/Producer for Newschannel 19 in Huntsville in August of 1999.. She'll be producing and co-anchoring the Saturday and Sunday morning news program and reporting three days a week. Jennifer had a double major of RTF and Theatre and worked at WOWL before she graduated.

Johnson, Jennifer. (Graduated 1997 RTF) Jennifer had a fellowship with IRTS in New York City which was great. She now wors as a local sales assistant at a PAX affiliate station in Atlanta, WPXA-TV.

Johnita is working for the State Department of Education and really enjoying it. She writes that she travels a lot, works with several school systems, and her background in RTF, journalism and PR is really helping her in her job.

Jonson, Marc (Graduated, 1996, RTF) I got a long letter from Marc at Christmastime. He has been working for Eurosport Television in Stockholm, Sweden. As of February 1 he will be the Production Manager, responsible for all Swedish, Danish, Finnish and Norwegian commentators, production facilities, and production personnel. He is justifiably excited about that job! He's also been doing some announcing himself on their verson of SportsCentre! While the format is a bit different, he's on the air and doing great. Lindberg, Chris. (Graduated 1991) Radio-Television.
Chris (you may remember him as a UNA cheerleader) was in ROTC while at UNA and went directly into the military after graduation and shortly after that led a group (I know that's not the right word) of tanks in Desert Storm. My boys wrote to him faithfully while he was over there and my Chris still has a picture of Chris' tank. Chris is now a captain and was married to Joanna in the spring of 1998. He dropped by just before Christmas, and he hasn't changed a bit! As of August, 1999, Chris is working with the ROTC at Auburn University.

Locklair, Collin. (Graduated 1994)
Collin was working at the University of South Carolina in the housing department. He completed his masters degree there and they liked him so much they decided to keep him around. This year he decided to accept a new position in Atlanta, GA, where he is Personnel and Adminstrative Support Facilitator for McKinsey and Company's U.S. Fiance and Accounting Shared Services Center. He's responsible for human resource functions, special event and community relations, and adminsitrative and facility operations.

Onat, Esra (Graduated 1998) Esra is applying to graduate school right now, but will be going back to Turkey for a while until her graduate plans are settled. Greg Privett , (Graduated, 1996) If you watch WBRC, Fox 6 TV out of Birmingham, you'll see Greg reporting there on the evening newscast. We saw him at Ms. Hurt's retirement party, and he looked great and sounded very happy.

Ratliff, Holly (Graduated, 1992) Holly is doing very well and living in Tampa, Florida working in marketing for Carrabba's Italian Grill, a subsidiary of Outback Steakhouse. She's been with them since 1996 and she handles printing of marketing collaterol and managing radio and television campaigns. Her major was Public Relations with a minor in Radio-TV. She told me that she thinks all of you who have had notes in the library and now on the web are "very lucky!" SHE had to do it the hard way - major writer's cramp! Holly also said that she has used the "I like my bike" phrase "thousands" of times as she does a mental check on her Southern accent.

Stallings, Monica ( Graduated in 1992)
I received a call from Monica on Jan. 2, 1999 and she had great news. She has been hired to be weekend anchor at Channel 2 Terre Haute, Indiana, an NBC affiliate. She is thrilled! She's doing fine, and she told me she had a great summer back-packing through Europe! Never a dull moment with Monica. She promises to send a tape asap. Monica wrote at Christmas that she is engaged! She'll have a new address before too long, so make sure you contact her. I'm sure she'll keep me posted. She wrote that she loves working in TV and things are really going well!

Wallace, Mark (Graduated, 1998) Mark anchored at WOWL for a while and now is in Monroe, Louisiana at KNOE-TV8 as the "third guy in sports" and he's loving it. He covers Louisiana Tech, U of La.-Monroe, and the legendary Grambling State. Mark gets to cover Grambling as one of his primary responsibilities. He gets to talk quite a bit with coach Doug Williams (Super Bowl MVP) and former coach Eddie Robinson. Mark is a pretty happy camper right now. Webb, Jay and Anissa (Graduated: 1993) Jay and Anissa now live in Madison, AL. Where Jay works for Comcast as a videographer. Anissa is teaching 1st grade at Monrovia Elementary School. They have a baby daughter (Mary Ashley) who will be a year old on May 10th.

Womack, Jason (Graduated: 1996 ) Journalism . Jason is married to Marietta Mandis who also attended UNA and now working for the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, in Tupelo, Mississippi where he is the Sports Copy Desk Editor. The Journal is the third largest paper in the state. He is in charge of designing the sports page and does web design for their site. The SEC page is "pretty much (his) baby." Young, Doug and Sonya (Lee ) (1993)
Doug and Sonya went to Memphis to get Masters Degrees. Doug is at Clark Tower Executive Suites as a Business Services Coordinator, dealing with tenants computer needs. Sonya was Promotional Sales Coordinator for Piggly Wiggly at the Corporate Offices in Memphis, but was promoted to Manager of Consumer Research in January. She traveled a lot, but liked her job. In October, she started a new position with a marketing research firm called Message Factors. She is a research analyst. They have a new address: 5892 Roxbury Drive, Memphis, TN 38119. They are starting construction on their first home which they hope will be finished in March. They'd love to hear from you.
