R(obert) B. Carney

A native of West Virginia, R.B. Carney began his career in television as a cameraman, editor and director of documentary and short films, following graduation from Yale University.

In 1975, Carney tried his hand at writing dramatic scripts for the CBS series The Great Detective and has since written for many of Canada's most popular and critically acclaimed series, becoming one of the industry's most celebrated writer/producers. He played a key role in creating and producing E.N.G., a highly acclaimed newsroom drama for which he received four Gemini Awards: three as Producer for Best Dramatic Series and one for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series. E.N.G. was sold to over 50 countries around the world.

Carney has also written for the USA Network/TF1 series Diamonds and Hot Shots; wrote Cold Warriors, a two-hour pilot for NBC; and produced ABC's Ordeal in the Arctic, the highest rated MOW of 1993 in Canada.

Most recently, Carney produced Black Harbour, a one-hour drama for the CBC starring Geraint Wyn Davies and Rebecca Jenkins.

He continues to be very active both writing and producing a number of series.
