Times have certainly changed! It was with trepidation that I set out to watch H&E again *years* later, after I'd bought season 1 on tape. And I found that I loved it! It's one of the those eps only someone who is already familiar with the show would like.
There is the supernatural element of Garret's visions, plausible thanks to the presence of Bob Fraser.
There is the usual bashfulness of Ben with women, a bashfulness which all but disappeared in seasons 3/4.
The episode had delightful moments, such as the scene where Ford says to Fraser 'Apparently embarrassing senior officers isn't your only talent'. The look on Fraser's face was priceless! Another one I liked was at the very end, where Fraser kicks the water fountain!
I found the rescue scene incredibly well done. Mr. Supermountie couldn't reach Garret, so Ray had to intervene. I loved how we see Ray comfort the traumatized young girl.
The FBI agents were bumbling gems once more. Trying to get Fraser for kidnapping because the kidnapper blew up! Heh, heh. Gotta love this show!
