First, I was surprised (but pleased) to discover that calm, rational, logical Benton Fraser believes in love at first sight. Then I thought about Victoria, and I realised, of course.
Second, there is a scene where Francesca is speaking about Eloise, mentioning how the girl grew up away from people, without any real life of her own. Frannie asks Fraser "How could anyone do that to their kid?" and Fraser gets a far away look in his eyes. He understands Eloise in a way no other character could. We are given a glimpse of his sad and lonely childhood.
This was quite possibly the worst episode of season four, but still much better than anything presented in season three, just for this additional 'fleshing' of Fraser's character.
But Inspector Margret Thatcher, Mrs Ice herself, singing "I believe"....that was worth it! :)
