Some Like it Red

This is my second favourite episode. Frasier as a woman looked alot better than most women these days. He had it down pat!! His mannerisms and the makeup were perfect. Never thought I would laugh so hard as when he was dancing with Ray. My husband was sitting in a different room and asked what the heck I was laughing at. The look on Ray's face when he realized it was Bennie!! Priceless!!

I just recently saw the "transvestite" episode for the first time, i cant believe i missed it before. paul's characterisation was absolutely brilliant, i was roaring with laughter throughout!! i would be very interested (as an actress meself) to know how he got those little movements and mannerisms so well, jack lemmon and tony curtis did not have a patch on this, and they were fab!! clearly the funniest episode for me. i have to agree with all the reviews ive seen that state that the show does not have a distinct pigeon-hole classification; that's what makes it so wonderful, the way it is slightly off-beat. I am not going to say how easy 'Rig Red' is on the eye or how, even in a dress, still managed to produce yearning sounds from me, like a whimpered, "Mountie!". That either says something about my sexuality or his sensuality. I'm hoping it's the latter. Damn, i was going to make this SHORT message a thoughtful intelligent one..........

Well, well. Ms. Fraser, such a pleasant young lady. This episode is a must. The "teeth" part is hilarious, and don't forget the John Travolta fan.
Fraser made a good woman, I must say. But we all like him more as a guy.

The only thing that makes this episode 'memorable' is Fraser in drag, and I was surprised that this joke didn't 'peter out' by the end. Lines like 'Oh, my *god*, Ms. Fraser you're a *cross dresser*!!!' and 'No, those weren't my breasts' kept me in stitches. Fraser *was* a pretty good looking woman, but the look took a while to develop. He looked best with the hair partially tied back with a few strands left loose. I was amused to discover that Fraser actually knows how to disco!
A most interesting point to note is that it would have been too weird for Fraser to have chosen a 'natural' looking wig, even though he looked sort of funny as a redhead. Anyone who has seen Paul Gross let his hair grow just a tad would know that Fraser's 'natural' long haired look is... dark and curly. We wouldn't have wanted him to have looked like Victoria, now would we? :)
Great episode, if just for the Fraser changing in the back seat of the Riv scene!

Am I the only one that thinks Paul Gross in drag in this episode looks amazingly like "Zena, Warrior Princess"? Long, dark hair, high cheekbones, etc.

This episode was wonderful, but, unfortunately, I missed the first quarter or so of it.
Paul Gross was alarmingly good as a woman, and I agree with Larry that he did look a good deal like Xena, Warrior Princess, only with a larger jaw.
The dance scene was hilarious, and I wish I had taped it. Also, the little exchange between Fraser and Ray as they get into the car-- about Fraser not being Ray's type of woman . . .
One thing I did not appreciate was how abruptly the ending came about, particulary after Fraser's bonding with Melissa.
Still, as a whole, this is one of my favorite episodes of DS.

"Some Like It Red" is one of the funniest episodes I have ever seen. The whole idea of this episode is to see how the other half lives. Fraser looks good as a woman, and he even acts well to pass for one. I could have sworn that in certain lights and angles, Ms. Fraser could be a dead ringer, or a lookalike of Cher, but that's my opinion. But anyway, the episode may have a silly plot, (a runaway teen who discovers Al Capone's vault and some crooks want the stash), but the real action comes from Fraser acting like a woman. Here's a little tip for both men and women: When one gender cross-dresses, the mannerisms of the opposite gender comes along with it. In one scene, one of the crooks runs into Fraser and Ray and the crook has the nerve to tell Ms. Fraser to grade papers. Fraser responds by smacking him silly. The line he said afterwards, "Grading Papers Indeed", made me want to say, "You Go, Girl" to his face. I'm telling you, once a man puts on the dress, he inherits the female mystique. The best part of the episode is when Ray and Ms. Fraser dance together to Blondie's "Heart of Glass". I was laughing so hard my parents wanted to know what was wrong with me. My mom came into the living room while that scene was playing and she too was laughing. After the criminals were caught, Fraser and Ray have a funny discussion about what Ray sees in a woman. He wants a woman who has all of Fraser's qualities, but she must be a woman. When Ray asks Fraser wants to do later, he tells him with attitude, "Nothing with You". I think he hasn't shook off the female in him yet. I don't know about you, but I really was hoping the music guys would put a little ABBA in the episode, preferably Dancing Queen. I really would like to hear that song in the episode because let's face it, ABBA and cross-dressing make a good mix. Or in my opinion, ABBA and Mounties make a good mix. Please add this episode to your collection. It will be worth it once you watch and laugh over and over again. And, I think Fraser looks good in a dress, don't you?

This is probably one of my favourite episodes because seeing Fraser in drag just made my laugh until I thought I would Hyper ventilate. The best part has to be when he is changing in th back seat of the Riv,his line of "the person who invented pantyhose should be brought up on charges of cruelty, sadism, and reckless endangerment, they pinch in the most inapropriate places." just cracked me up. And one thing Imust say, Paul Gross has the legs for a dress or any other article of clothing for that matter.

The episode is downright funny. Also it is one of my favorites. PG makes a great woman with the mannerisms and etc. As I watch the episode repeatly, I could have sworn that Ray was falling for "Ms. Fraser". My suspicions started with Ray's behavior and mainly his unusual peeks of Fraser's changing in the back seat of his car.
Thanks to that episode, it inspired to some stories with Benny as a "real" woman but Ray V is a warlock. These stories are Star Trek-related.
