But whilst he belives he is getting away with it, the dog catcher is hot on his wolf tail. Fraser doesn't turn up in time and is lied to by the dog catcher who makes Fraser believe that Dief attacked him unlawfully and as he has no license he will be taken to doggie jail awaiting trail.
The episode is very good with the scene of where Fraser is forced to shoot Dief, but will he realise the reason the wolf was acting so unusual? The uncovering of the 'dogs for labs' racket is a very clever introduction into the episode. And when the audience is made to believe that Dief would turn and attack Fraser but would the faithful wolf really turn on the man he once saved out in the Yukon Territory?
In this episode, Diefenbaker has been caught by Animal Control and to the dismay of Fraser, may very well have returned to his wild, wolf ways. Will Fraser be forced to make the ultimate decision to put down Diefenbaker, permanantly....?
Anyone who loves dogs will love this episode! There were some great scenes of dogs running with Diefenbaker in the beginning of the episode and unless you have a heart of stone, you just gotta say, OHHHHH, how cute! Diefenbaker is in fine form as the romantic "anti-hero/hero" of this story.
There were some fine moments of this episode, especially the look on Fraser's face when the judge orders Diefenbaker to be executed. Fraser looked so stunned that it was hard not to feel bad for him. Very, very fine acting from Paul Gross as his face conveys the shock and sadness he feels as he begins to realize that Diefenbaker might be a danger after all.
One of the best, tense moments was when Fraser raises his rifle and prepares to shoot Diefenbaker. Will he shoot his best friend?
I highly recommend this episode for dog lovers every where!
