FEBRUARY Term 1821,
p. 260--
Caldwell County
 against       }On a prosecution for Bastardy
James M. HALL
By consent of parties this case is ordered to be dismissed
at the  Defendants costs Therefore it is considered by the
Court that the plaintiff recover against Said Defendant the
costs in this prosecution expended & the Deft in mercy &c.

On motion of Hugh McVAY the following instrument of writing
was ordered to record the Same having been acknowledged by
Said McVay to be his act & Deed and reads as follows towit:
"Know all men by these presents that I Hugh McVAY of the
County of Caldwell and State of Kentucky do by these presents
emancipate and Set free from and after my death, my negro woman
Slave named ISA, Supposed to be about forty five years of age
now the Wife of David GALLOWAY a free man of Colour, witness
my hand this 26th february 1821.  Hugh McVAY (Seal)
Therefore it is ordered that She have Certificate of freedom
according to law.

William DUNNING a poor indigent invalid to be given $20 by
Collector of County levy.

John W. WATKINS' earmarks: a crop & slit in left ear, swallow
fork & upper bit out of the right.

p. 268--
Ordered that Clerk of Court bind out Thos. WILKERSON 4, son of
Minty WILKERSON to John C. GORDON to age of 21 to learn the art
and mystery of the cabinet makers trade.

Ordered that Clerk of Court bind out Cynthia WILKERSON, 2, to
age of 18 to Wm. BOWLAND to learn the art & mystery of the
Spinsters trade.

Delpha JOINER 7, daughter of Sally JOINER late Sally HUNT, be
bound out to 18 years to Wm. C. LOVE to learn Spinster trade

p. 272--
Isaac SAMPSON? sworn by Priscilla ARMSTRONG to be the father of
her "female Bastard Child." Court found no evidence against
Deft.

Court binds out Thos. WILKERSON 4 son of Minty to John C.
GORDON to learn House Joiners and Carpenters trade.

p. 273--
Complaint of Edmd. WYATT apprentice to Jas. B. BURGESS of in-
humane and cruel treatment. Denied. Ordered to remain bound.

p. 274--
Sheriff Wm. BIRDSONG enters into bond of $10,000. for
Collection of Revenue Tax.


MAY 1821,
p. 289--
Ordered that Samuel DRENNON be and he is hereby appointed
Surveyor of that public road leading from Eddyville on the
direction to the Iron Banks Beginning at GREERs Creek to
EDINs? ford on the West fork of CLARKs River, and that he
with all the hands living within five miles of Said road
within his precinct on ["the West of Greer Creek and also
within" crossed out] both sides thereof, do open and Keep
the Same in repair fifteen feet wide, clear & Smooth accord-
ing to law.

Ordered that James JORDAN be and he is hereby appointed
Surveyor of that part of the public road leading from Eddy-
ville to the Livingston County line on the direction to the
Iron Banks in the Mississippi River Commencing at DAVISs ford
on the East fork of CLARKs river to GREERs Creek One quarter
of a mile West of Said DAVISs, and that he with all the hands
living within five miles of said road on both sides thereof,
within his precinct, do open and Keep the same in repair
fifteen ft. wide Clear & Smooth according to law.

Ordered that William LEE be apptd. Surveyor of that part of the
public road leading from Eddyville to the Livingston County line
on the direction to the Iron Banks, Beginning at John ANDERSONs
house to the Livingston County line, and that he with all the
hands living within five miles on each side of said road on the
Waters of MAYFIELD? Creek within his precinct do open and Keep
the Same in repair fifteen feet wide clear & smooth according
to law.

Ordered that John MILLER be and he is hereby appointed Surveyor
of that part of the public road leading from Princeton to Centre-
ville, Beginning at FOWLERs old...

AUGUST 1821,
p. 316--
On motion of Elizabeth JENKINS Exex. of the last will and Testa-
ment of Jesse JENKINS decd., It is ordered that a Commission
Issue with the Will annexed, directed to Meringo (sic) County
State of Alabama, To the presiding Judge of any Court of law,
Chief Magistrate, or Notary public in the County afsd. to take
the Attestation & proof of Levi GREER a Subscribing Witness to
the will of the Said decedant JENKINS - and the Same is Contd.

On motion of Stephenson CARRICK exor of John CARRICK decd.
It is ord. that Kinsay? ROBISON, John McELROY, Wm. ARMSTRONG,
Jesse B. PEMBERTON, and Joseph DUNKLIN or any three of whom
being first Sworn do appraise the estate of Said decedant
according to law & that the Exor return an Inventory thereof
to this Court.

A Settlement of the estate of John FLINT decd. Was on this day
Returned into Court by the Commissioners and examd. and approved
of by the Court and was Ordered to be recorded with vouchers
thereto attached towit-

William BIRDSONG produced here in Court a Commission from his
excellency John ADAIR Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky
appointing him Sheriff of Caldwell County for and during the
term for which Arthur H. DAVIS was Commissioned but resigned,
and with the leave of the Court he took the Several oaths
prescribed by Law and the Constitution, and entered into and
ackd. bond to the Commonwealth of Ky Conditioned according to
law, with John H. PHELPS, John MERCER, Edward MITCHUSSON Senr.,
James F. MITCHUSSON and James H.? BIGHAM his Securities.

OCTOBER, 1821,
p. 332--
Polly GUESS?, single, charged Robert HOOKER as father of her
female bastard child.  Defendant found guilty and charged with
support and maintenance of child for 10 years, 10 dollars?
annually. Deft failing to give bond, he was remanded to jail.
