Jany 1812, p.298/198 (sic)--
On mo of James MORSE he is apptd a Constable for Caldwell County,
whereupon he came into court & having taken necessary oaths hereto-
fore, entd into bond in sum of $500 with Ebenezer MOSS & Isaac
BROWNE his securities

Ord that James MORSE ear mark be as follows towit a hole in the
right ear and a crop and split in the left ear

It appearing to the Satisfaction of the Court from the affidavit of
Ambrose ANDERSON that there is a girl child by the name of Hannah
MILLER above Ten or eleven years of age in the possesson of Hugh
HAWTHORN & that said HAWTHORN treats said child with no kind of
humanity It is therefore ordered that the Shff of Caldwell County
take sd child into possession & keep it subject to the further
order of this Court.

On mo of Horatio DURBY It is ord that William LAUGHLIN be exempt
>from paying County levy & working on roads in future

Ord that Arthur H DAVIS Jesse WILLIAMS & George ROBISON Esqrs be
authorized to Solemnize the rites of Matrimony in the County of
Caldwell upon their giving bond with security according to law.
Whereupon sd DAVIS came into court & Colo. Wm MITCHUSSON & John
MERCER his security entd & ackd bond in sum of £500..& took oath

Wm FRAZER Resigns his office as a Constable for Caldwell County

George ROBISON Esqr came into Court & gave Saml. GLENN & Wm.
BIRDSONG as his secys. in the sum of £500 payable to Com Ky.
conditioned according to law for the solemnization of Matrimony
in Caldwell County who took Oath &c.

Feby 1812, p. 202--

On mo of William BIRDSONG & he producing a Commission from the Govnr.
of the Com. of Ky. apptg him Sheriff of the Co of Caldwell in the
room of Wm MITCHUSSON resigned, It is ord that he be sworn into
office whereupon he here in open court took the oaths reqd by law
& gave bond with Wm MITCHUSSON & Wm. MITCHUSSON jr, David JAMES
& N CRAVENS his securities in penalty of three thousand dollars
Conditioned according to law for the faithful discharge of the duties
of his Said office as Sheriff of the County Caldwell

On the mo of Colo. Wm BIRDSONG Shff of Caldwell County  William
MITCHUSSON jr. was sworn as his Deputy who took oaths &c. & also
Edwd. MITCHUSSON jr. was sworn as another Deputy.

On mo. of John A. JONES It is ord by the Court that the Clerk
bind out Hannah [p. 203] MILLER orphan of John MILLER to sd.
John A. JONES aged Eleven years 15th January 1811 past to learn
the Spinsters trade according to law.

On Petition of Wm MITCHUSSON this Court grants him leave to have
a ferry across the Tennesee River near or at the place where Edwd
MITCHUSSON jr formerly lived now said to belong to sd Wm MITCHUSSON,
the Court grants & Establishes sd Ferry without evidence of any title
being produced, upon his giving bond in penalty of £20 Conditioned
accdg to law with John W. FORD his Secy/Present M LYON

Ord that the following rates be allowed across the Tennessee river
at Wm MITCHUSSONs Ferry towit
for man & horse                         37 1/2 Cents
for Waggon & Team                     1.00
for every single horse,hog or neet
 cattle each}                            6 1/4 Cents &

Ord that Nehemiah CRAVENS Esqr be apptd to make all necessary
repairs to the Present Jail of Caldwell County & that he is to be
paid an equivalint for the same out of the next County levy

At a County Court held for Caldwell County at the Courthouse in
Eddyville on Monday the 27th day of April 1812

recorded towit, A Smooth Crop of the right and an under bit and

On mo of Joshua SCOTT one of the executors named in the last will
and testament of James DEACON decd (the other exr not appearing)
letters granted him with the will annexed, upon giving bond

On mo John FOLEY he resigns as Surveyor of the road & ord that
William BEAN be apptd in his stead from Lyons ferry on Cumberland
River at the mouth of Eddy Creek to the dividing ridge between
INGRAMs old place and Claybourn BARNETTs, sd. road leading from
Eddyville to Dover in Tennessee & that he with all hands living
within four miles of the West side of sd rd & within one mile on
the east side do open & keep same in repair

Thos GREER Resigns as Surveyor of the road & It is ord that Jesse
JENKINS be appd in his stead from Widow GILLIHENs ferry on the
Cumberland river to the Tennessee river at Widow REYNOLDS place
& that he with all hands living within one mile & a half on each
side of said road keep same in repair, the said road leads from
Hopkinsville to Said REYNOLDS

July 1812, p. 227--
On motion of Isaac GREER he is exempt from paying County levy & State
tax for the year 1811 Satisfactory proof being made to the Court

Ord that Wm BIRDSONG, James GREER, Washington THOMPSON, Wm DUNCAN
& Banister WADE or any 3 being first Sworn do view & mark out a road
the nearest & best way from Wm MITCHUSSON's Ferry on Tennessee River
to Brooks H DAVIS's on Cumberland River & from thence so as to
in[ter]sect the road leading from Christian Courthouse to Centreville
& make report to this Court

Majr Edwd ROBISON Coroner of Caldwell County came into Court & Resigns
his sd office

Wm BIRDSONG D.S. [Deputy Sheriff] for Wm MICTHCUSSON S C.C [Sheriff
Caldwell County] produced the following account which was allowed
& Ord to be paid out of the estate of Wm BURTON decd.

Nov 1812, p. 244--
On mo of C SULLIVANT & John HUGHES Admr of John HUGHES decd they
return an Inventory & appraisement of the estate of sd decd. which
is O.R.

An inventory of the sale of the estate of John HUGHES decd was Ret'd
by the Admr & OR

On mo. of John MITCHELL It is ord that the Clerk of this Court
bind out to said MITCHELL Sally HARVEY aged Eight years Orphan to
learn the spinsters trade according to law.

On mo. of M. LYON It is ord that the following writing be admitted
to record Which being proven in open court by Elijah G GALUSHA &
David MAGEE two subscribing Witnesses Thereto was accordingly done
ToWit."To all people to whome this presents shall come know ye that
I Matthew LYON of Eddyville in the County of Caldwell and State of
Kentucky for divers good causes
[p. 245] and considerations thereunto me moving have emancipated
and made free my negro man slave DICK Whom I bought of William
BOND now about forty years old In Witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal this 16th day of October 1812 In presence of
