Looking for information on parents of John Jackson, Hardin area, Marshall CO, KY., born circa 1827, m. Mary A. Peterson circa 1846. Mary A. Peterson was born circa 1823. Their first child, William Henry(known as Henry) Jackson born 1847 at Hardin, Marshall Co., KY, had 1 sister on 1850 Census named Sarah A. Jackson born 1848. Henry is my g-grandfather. Have hit stone wall at John Jackson and Mary A Peterson. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Henry was pressed into the Union Army by Bushwhackers at age 14 and did not return to KY until his grandson, my Dad, was a teenager. Never saw his Mother again. He told my Dad, Floyd Jackson, that he got into a fight at a local tavern over a friend and stabbed the other man. He hopped on his thoroughbred mare and fled over the state line. That's where the Bushwhackers found him, took his horse, and put him into the army. He married Sarah Isabel Hubbard in 18868(not sure of date) and they 10 children, 8 boys and 2 girls, one girl died in infancy. Am looking for parents of John Jackson and Mary A. Peterson. Thank you. WILLIAMS was born about 1834 somewhere in TN so according to the age in the oldest and second oldest son they must have arrived in KY around 1836. GLOVER they are on the Graves County census in 1880 with their own family. JOSEPH AND ELIZA WILLIAMS family was quite large so they must have spread out in the surrounding counties. My great-grandfather was HARVE BROWN and he was married to CAROLINE YOUNG. In their union they produced two(2) children a daughter, Ella Marie Brown (b.16 Mar 1892), and a son that I always called Uncle Lonnie. He was in WW1 and lost an arm to the shoulder. The years I remember him visiting here in Ky. last was in the 1950's. He lived in AZ and I know he had a wife but I don't know if they had any children. My Grandmother Ella Marie Brown married Arvie Howard Redden. and they had 5 children. Arvie died when their last daughter was only an infant, but I don't know the exact year, only that he is buried in Marshall Co. somewhere. My Father's name was Harley William Redden(b. 18 Sep 1918 d. Apr 1975). Someone told me that Arvie's father was J. R. Redden. If anyone out there knows anything about my family please let me know. Believe John Henry ran a 'ferry' possibly at Grand Rivers or Birmingham to the Land Between The Lakes area where I was born in 1936. He and his brothers, Thomas and James owned farms in the Land Between The River's area, about five miles South of Grand Rivers along the road that ran between the Birmingham Landing and the Eddyville Ferry. Our farm began across the road from the Nicholls land and to the above mentioned road and to the Cumberland River. John Henry Duff's parents were Wm. Henry DUFF and Eliz. DONELSON. Jasper Logan Cole, wife Sarah Gresham. and children disappeared from Henry Co. Tennessee after the War Between the States. The family has not been found in 1870. In 1900 Jasper Logan Cole appears in Marshall County with a second wife who was Barbara Jane Dublin, Callis. They had three children born from 1895 to 1900. !880 Jasper L. Cole age 48 and wife Sarah age 46 with two children Savannah A., and Samuel J. age 10, were in McCracken County. A daughter Sarah had married William Watson in McCracken Co, in 1876. They eventually moved to Texas. Another daughter Hattie married a Valley and lived in the Memphis area, dying there in 1937. There is a possibility that Jasper Logan and family may have gone to Illinois after leaving TN. Does anyone connect to this family. Hunting for information on ancestors of Nathan Marshall COLLEY (my great-grandfather). Veterans Adminsitration indicates he was born near Birmingham, KY 1837. However 1850 Census shows a Nathan (age 7) in the housold of JANE COLLEY (age 47) also in the household were LEE children, Zerilda Colley and Sarah Colley. VA records indicate Nathan had an older sister, Sarah ((married name Keen). VA indicates that Nathan's parents died when he was about 7 (1850?) and he was raised by by Parenthia Craddock Mattingly, wife of Nathan's half-brother (?)) . They assume that the half-brother's name was Craddock since Mattingly is a later married name. Nathan's first wife was Sarah Jennings who died in 1874. They had two sons, one died in the 1870's, the other..Nathan N. was born about 1870. Nathan Marshall Colley moved to Missouri sometime after the Civil War and married there again on 7-1-1877. James Wesley 'J.W.' Morefield (1848-1904). He was married to Mary Elizabeth KEELING (1850- 1917). Andrew J. and Lurana were married in Hopkins Co, KY, on Oct 29, 1855. They moved from Hopkins Co. to Marshall Co. ca 1857 or 1858. I am interested in any additional information on Andrew J. and his brother, Alva (b. ca 1825, TN; m. Nancy Grace Jul 16, 1846, Christian Co., KY), who left Hopkins Co. at the same time as Andrew J. Although Alva does not appear on the 1860 Marshall Co. census, I suspect he may have been near his brother.
